March 20, 2025Training for Behavioral Health Providers
This training will present data about LGBTQIA+ people in New Mexico, including the size and diversity of this community. We will share information about the health disparities experienced by the community and their causes. We will explore how our understanding of sex and gender have evolved and the new language that has developed to discuss LGBTQIA+ identities. We will also share research on steps that can be taken to increase access and quality of care for LGBTQIA+ people in behavioral health
LGBTQIA+ people are a sizable minority in New Mexico and experience behavioral health concerns at rates higher than the general population as well as multiple barriers to accessing care and services. Historical factors lead this population to have low levels of trust in behavioral health providers which can further complicate efforts to provide care and services.
March 20, 2025 1:00-4:00pm Las Cruces
(Exact location will be provided to registrants)Training is free, but registration is required:

March 25, 2025This year, vaping, tobacco and nicotine use among youth and young adults are still major concerns. Every day, more and more discreet vapes enter the market. They are meant to sneak past adults by camouflaging as common household objects, video games, toys, and school supplies. Behind the enticing flavors and flashy colors of e-cigarettes are harmful chemicals and nicotine addiction. Now is the time to remain vigilant and learn the essentials to help kids avoid or quit vaping! Parents Against Vaping (PAVe) is a national grassroots organization founded in 2018 by three New York City moms as a response to the youth vaping epidemic. parentsagainstvaping.org
