An Online Training for Behavioral Health Providers

This training will present data about LGBTQIA+ people in New Mexico, including the size and diversity of this community. We will share information about the health disparities experienced by the community and their causes. We will explore how our understanding of sex and gender have evolved and the new language that has developed to discuss LGBTQIA+ identities. We will also share research on steps that can be taken to increase access and quality of care for LGBTQIA+ people in behavioral health

LGBTQIA+ people are a sizable minority in New Mexico and experience behavioral health concerns at rates higher than the general population as well as multiple barriers to accessing care and services. Historical factors lead this population to have low levels of trust in behavioral health providers which can further complicate efforts to provide care and services.

Tuesday, February 11, 2025 1:00-3:00pm

Training is free, but registration is required:

This summit is an opportunity to bring all our initiative members and partners together under one roof to strengthen our shared vision and goals, as well as offer practical information on how to build on local assets in order to increase access to ten vital services.

Deb Wisniewski, from the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute, will help us strengthen our collaboration across service sectors, improve the alignment of our work, and energize our connections with county residents.

We will examine the power of moving from a scarcity mentality to recognizing that our communities have the building blocks to make every childhood trauma-free, with families empowered to succeed in well-resourced schools and communities.
